For centuries, education has followed rigid, standardised models that prioritise memorisation, compliance, and performance over understanding, curiosity, and individuality.

At Maximum Learning, we believe this approach no longer serves the world children are growing into.

Learning is not neutral. It shapes how children see themselves, how they solve problems, and how they believe they belong in the world. That is why we approach education as a holistic and intentional journey. A journey that considers not only academic outcomes, but confidence, emotional wellbeing, thinking patterns, and personal strengths.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Max Makumya M'membe is the founder and lead educator at Maximum Learning. From an early age, she developed a deep love for school and learning: not simply for achievement, but for the process of understanding, questioning, and making meaning of knowledge.

 

That early curiosity has remained central to her work and continues to shape her approach to education today.

Over the course of her career, Max has taught and supported learners across early childhood, primary school, high school and university levels. She has worked with children of diverse learning profiles, including learners who thrive in traditional academic environments, those who experience learning challenges, and those who require more individualised, confidence-building support.

Her experience spans one-on-one tutoring, small group instruction, curriculum and assessment creation, academic coordination, and educational advisory. Through this work, she has developed a nuanced understanding of how children learn, how confidence is built, and how educational environments can either support or limit a learner’s potential.​

Maximum Learning was founded from Max’s belief that children should not be reduced to marks, labels, or comparison. Her work is guided by the view that education must be intentional, adaptive, and deeply respectful of the learner as a whole human being and that when children are truly understood, they are capable of far more than traditional systems often allow.

EXPERIENCE

Education, Teaching & Academic Support

Max brings over a decade of hands-on experience in teaching, tutoring, and academic support. She has worked across multiple educational stages, supporting learners from early childhood through university in both structured and flexible learning environments.

Curriculum-Aligned & Individualised Support

Her work includes supporting neurodiverse learners, students with learning gaps, high-achieving learners seeking enrichment, and children navigating academic or school transitions. This breadth of experience has informed her belief that effective learning support must be tailored to the individual rather than applied uniformly.

Maximum Learning

As founder of Maximum Learning, Max designs and oversees personalised learning journeys that integrate screenings, tutoring, advisory services, and learning resources. She works closely with families to ensure that educational decisions are informed, thoughtful, and responsive to each child’s evolving needs.

Academic & Research
Training

Amongst other qualifications, Max holds a masters degree in Law. Her academic background in law, governance, and social justice has shaped her understanding of systems, power, and institutional design. This training informs her approach to education as a long-term developmental and social process, rather than just a narrow academic exercise.
